American University’s Center for Social Media is pleased to host organizers and attendees at the first national Public Media Camp as part of of our Future of Public Media project. There’s a tremendous amount of innovation happening in the public media space right now, and we’re excited to see what kinds of new tools, collaborations and discussions will emerge from this event.
CSM is based at American’s School of Communication, a fertile context for experiments in journalism and civic engagement. We’ve not only organized a number of related gatherings, including Beyond Broadcast and the annual Making Your Media Matter, but are lucky enough to work alongside two other centers that are incubating new approaches to public media in the networked age: the J-Lab, and the Investigative Reporting Workshop. (Learn more about us all in this MediaShift article.) We look forward to not only sharing some of what we’ve learned, but to learn even more from you.
